Traditional round brilliant cuts feature larger main pavilion facets and smaller pavilion girdle facets, which emphasizes the reflective doubling of the main pavilion facet through the crown main facets. The pattern is more distinct and easier to recognize than the modern round brilliant, especially in smaller stones and on materials with lower refractive indices (around 1.7).
