🌍 GENERAL MATERIAL DESCRIPTION

  • Material Name:Cr:YAG
  • Country of Origin : China
  • Growth Method: Kyropoulos

Chromium-doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnet (Cr:YAG) is a robust and efficient material extensively used in industrial laser systems. It serves primarily as a passive Q-switch in Nd:YAG and other neodymium-doped lasers. A Q-switch is crucial in laser technology as it controls the duration and energy release of the laser pulse. The unique properties of Cr:YAG allow it to produce short, high-intensity pulses, which are essential in precision applications such as drilling, cutting, and marking in various materials ranging from metals to plastics. These pulses are highly valued in the manufacturing industry, especially in areas requiring fine detail and accuracy, like electronics, automotive, and aerospace manufacturing. Cr:YAG is also used in medical laser equipment for procedures requiring high precision and control. Its reliability and durability make it a preferred choice for many industrial laser applications, contributing significantly to advancements in laser technology and manufacturing processes.

🏭 SPECIFIC Lot INFORMATION

This material boasts a fascinating backstory. In 2020, a Chinese firm placed an order worth $600,000 for Kyropoulos Cr:YAG crystals. Unfortunately, the batch developed cracks and bubbles, leading to the cancellation of the order. However, among the defective batch, there were some sections that remained clear, albeit with varying shades of green, ranging from yellow-green to army green. We seized the opportunity to acquire what was available, uncertain of when a similar event might occur again.
